All new residential buildings, townhouses & apartment development buildings, and alteration & additions projects will require an energy rating report for building approval. The current minimum energy report star rating is 6, but the new NCC 2022 will require a minimum of 7 stars which will come into effect sometime in 2023. 

A Sustainable Development Assessment (SDA) and Sustainable Management Plan (SMA) may be required by some local councils in Victoria at town planning stage. The report will outline how a proposed development, such as a land subdivision into two or more townhouses, demonstrates sustainable design elements. 

Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) report, also known as STORM Water Management Plan, will assess if the proposed development's best practice water quality objective have been achieved. The client will need to confirm if any stormwater treatments or haversting systems will be included in the proposed development.
