Energy Rating Report

All new residential buildings, townhouses & apartment development buildings, and alteration & additions projects will require an energy rating report for building approval.

What is a NatHERS Energy Rating Report?

An energy rating report is a thermal performance assessment to rate the building’s envelope ability to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.

The current minimum star rating for energy reports is 6, but the new NCC 2022 will require a minimum of 7 stars, which will take effect from 1 May 2024. Additionally, there will be a major update to the new NatHERS assessment, the Whole of Home assessment which includes the energy efficiency of major appliances such as solar panels and batteries. We will update all our clients with the latest information in a timely manner.

We provide Energy Rating Reports for:

  • New Residential Houses

  • Townhouse Developments

  • Apartments

  • Additions & Alterations

We also offer Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) assessment for small extensions and alterations that might be suitable for smaller projects. Please note that a DTS assessment is not suitable for all projects. We encourage you to speak to your building surveyor to confirm if a DTS assessment is appropriate for the project.

What happens if my buildings DON'T meet the minimum rating?

Our office will offer a few cost-effective options to improve the ratings as per NCC requirements. Even though our office is located in Melbourne, Victoria, we can perform a thermal performance assessment on all houses Australia-wide.
